New mailing list features added
Two often requested features have been added to the mailing list feature.
First off, you can now customize the mailing list form to include name and address fields. This is handy if you want to create groups based on location. You will find this setting in the "member options" tab of the mailing list.
Second, we revamped the importing and exporting process. You can now import addresses from a file, and it will retain all the important fields, like name, address, country, etc. You can also export your list to a file in the same way, retaining all the data in your list.

New e mail is awsome!
We can't thank you enough for this feature! Targeted emails to fans are the holy grail of band promotion and avoiding "email burnout" is our top priority. A possible additional field for the future might be a checkbox labeled "under 18, or under 21" for bands who do all ages shows.
Thanks!

Is it possible to not have the whole form show up until they click into the email box?
We have this on our home page and it takes up a lot of room if the whole form is there.

We've found a bug in Vista that may prevent it from expanding correctly. For the short term, we have made it expanded by default; we will find a solution to it early next week.
Just wanted to check: The new expanded mailing form is temporary thing right?
I have a large number of pages with you guys, and they all look HORRIBLE right now. Some of the bands I maintain sites for have complained that it has ruined the front pages, and I have to agree.
Not trying to be whiney, but wanting to make sure this isn't a long term switch. We like our nice small email form the way it's always been.

Same here
While we are at it, why do we even need a captcha (encrypted password) for this feature?
Is it really a concern that robots might sign up for our newsletter? If so, I'd rather let them do it.
Having a captcha there probably means lots of people start to put in the email address, then start to give up because it is too much trouble.
Unless if there is some important reason to keep it, could we just get rid of the captcha all together?
the expanded mailing list will end on Monday, when we correct the Vista bug.
the captcha is required. Without it, you can get literally hundreds of thousands of false email addresses in minutes. We had to add it because this was happening to members.
How can we resend to the email addresses we have asking them to redo it so it populates correctly?
Thanks for this ITS BIG!!
Loving it! -DCS
Awesome! This is fantastic and long overdue but is there a way we can get the new features added to the mailing list html code for other sites (myspace etc.)?

I want this as well ![]()
agreed - the HTML is an important tool. Nice work on the update, guys!
Hi there,
I just tried out the feature of setting up the mailing-list-sign-up-form on myspace with the html-code provided. Unfortuantely it does not work. As I ask for address and everything on myspace the form comes up with an error. It does not give you the option to fill in the address, name etc. Therefore it's complaining that one cannot sign up as those information wasn't provided. ![]()
