Live Shots of Life
The Jersey Shore

I know its still dark outside, but the low tide is at 6:50 am and time is wasting!

Sun breaking through the clouds at Belmar on Thanksgiving morning, November 24, 2005.

With it getting dark at 4:30 pm, sunset comes around all too soon these days.

We were Surfin' at Sunset on Saturday, November 19, 2005.  You may recognise this jetty from Surfline as 17th Street in Belmar, NJ.

So few surfers this November day but I made a few friends in those last minutes of twilight.

I think this guys name is Zack at 16th Ave, Belmar NJ October 9, 2005. Thank you  Tropical Depression Tammy  for that nice oceanic keg party.

Chuck dropping in on a wave at Belmar. 10-1-01

Everybody is trying to surf. 10-1-01.

The end of a ride in Ortley (7-9-05)

This is summer surfing in NJ at it's best (if you like obstacle courses.) (7-9-05)

It's 9:00 am and the Ortley lifeguard thinks every one is going to move  north. (7-9-05)

Lady surfers are the best! She was ripping it in Bay Head. (7-9-05)

OK, a little blurry, but you can get the idea of the fun she was having. (7-9-05)

Point Pleasant beach looking north from the Bay Head town line. Every morning down here is a beautiful sunny day (yeah, right.) (7-9-05)

Don't dare step over that imaginary line in the sand, Bay Head will make you buy a beach badge.  (7-9-05)

OK, go to Eastern Lines Surf Shop in Lavalette, NJ, and buy lots of T-shirts, board shorts, beach chairs and other things that will keep Kim M. in business.  (7-4-05)

Once again I am showing my talent for posing seagulls. For many (most) the beach is just a place to chill.  (7-4-05)

I have a special skill for taking photos of .... seagulls, especially with an interesting background.   (7-4-05)

Now, when we think of surfing, isn't this what we think it will be like when we paddle-out into the waves for the very first time?  (7-4-05)

A little more reality, this time looking south on Grand Central Avenue in Lavalette, NJ.  (7-3-05)

Ah yes, the reality of being down the Jersey Shore on 4th of July weekend.  (7-3-05)

Thats me dealing with this sometimes frustrating sport called surfing. (7-2-05)

Here I am on a short board, in waist-high waves and my  unique "take-a-dump" surf stance.  (7-2-05)

Nice place to go, if you can find a parking space this time of year.  (6-26-05)

People like walking on them boards, alright.  (6-26-05)

I never knew that Lavalette's beach formed a semi-circlular cove. (6-17-05)

A week later and "Ta-dah", people all over.  (6-17-05)

Dude, I thought you said there was going to be swell today! (6-17-05)

See you at the Dew Drop Inn.  (6-17-05)

Cleared for lift-off.  (6-17-05)

See, people really do surf in New Jersey. (6-5-05)

Splash, right against the jetty.  (6-5-05)

Just wait, a few weeks later and it will be bedlam at the beach. You can see Seaside Heights, NJ, in the background. (6-5-05)
