1. How long has your band been together?
Anna and I started writing in 2003 and we officially became a band in 2005 2. Who plays what in your band? Anna Worsty vocals, Jesse Worsty guitar, Jairo Ruiz bass, Nathan Shelton drums 3. Which song is your band's favorite that you all have written? Wow, this is a tough one. We all have different favorites. I think right now it's a toss up between two new songs "Kitty Litter" and "What's Her Face". Both of which we'll be recording in the fall. 4. Has your band published an album? If so, what is it called and where can it be bought? Yes. It's an EP called "Put Your Babe On." You can buy it at a show or on iTunes. You can find the link on our Myspace. 5. What is the significance of your band's name? Anna and I have the same last name... Worstell. Worsty was my nickname in high school so I figured "The Worsties" would be a good fit. 6. What is the best memory your band has had at a show or while on the road? I think the best memory so far is when we received our 1st encore. Normally, we'd turn off our amps and start packing our stuff up as soon as the last note is hit. So when the crowd continued cheering and they weren't leaving, we knew it was time to give them some more. That was a cool feeling. 7. What is the best city you have played in and why? Besides Nashville? I'd have to say St. Louis. Good people, good beer and they always make you feel like rock stars. 8. What is your favorite venue you have played in and why? The Wildhorse Saloon. It's normally a country venue, but they've been embracing more rock artists. We had a whole crew to load in our equipment, our own dressing room, catered meal, free booze, so all we had to do was step out on stage and play. 9. What venue in your hometown would you recommend to other local bands and why? 12th and Porter. Best light show in town, great sound and the owners are the coolest. 10. What can someone expect out of a live performance? We give it our all so expect to see a lot of sweat, flailing around, and a bit of sexual tension. 11. What places have you not played yet that you would like to and why? We'd love to hit up New York and some of the East Coast. Everyone tells us we sound like a "New York band" so I'd like to see if that's true. 12. Which bands in your hometown would you recommend to others? Gone City, Brenn, Mean Tambourines, Sterling Y, Red White Blue, Modoc, American Bang, Luna Halo, etc. Boy... this list could go on forever. So much great music coming out of Nashville right now. 13. Which bands outside your hometown would you recommend to others? There's a great band that is from NYC and Toronto (I believe) called Metric. Of course the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and you should also check out Giant Drag from L.A. 14. Which bands would you like to play with that you have not had the opportunity to play with? It'd be great to open for American Bang since we've become pretty good friends with them. I think it'd be a great fit. But if we're gonna daydream a bit it'd be great to open for The Who, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, The Hives, The Pixies, The Raconteurs on and on and on. 15. Which events, conferences and/or festivals have you attended that you would recommend for other bands? Next Big Nashville. It's usually the 2nd weekend in September and there are about 200 bands playing about 10 venues for the entire weekend. All musical genres are represented and you're drunk for like 3 days straight but it's totally worth it. 16. Is there anything else interesting about your band that you would like to share that your fans might be interested in? We're starting to play out of town a bit more, but we don't have a van or anything. We cram all of our equipment in our drummer's Nissan Pathfinder. It barely fits, so Anna and I sit in the back, but only the middle and driver's side seats are free so any trip over 6 hours and your ass starts to ache. We'll definitely need to upgrade soon. |
